Why don’t I use Canvas/Blackboard?

Why don’t you use Slingshot for my books?
Slingshot is a sure sign of the apocalypse, and there’s nothing nice I can say about it. You’re being charged for books that you cannot keep. Boycott immediately and start the revolution.
Will I respond to a question you email me that is on this site or in the syllabus?
No, I will not.
What’s the attendance policy?
You can miss 2 weeks of class for any reason without a problem. You are grown people, you have things come up or maybe you just slept in after a long night partying studying. Whatever. Fine. You have two full weeks of misses. If you have a MWF class, that’s 6 misses. T/TH class is 4 misses, etc. You can do the math. In essence, I’m requiring you to be in class for 85% of the time. Pretty generous, I know.
What about absences for athletics?
Yes–they are included in those 6 misses.
Why?
Well, I quickly learned that if you have 6 free misses, plus unlimited misses due to athletics, there is a strong chance you could miss up to 40% of classes. And well, that’s kind of insane to me.
So, if you will miss more than 6 classes for whatever reason, I would talk to your coach, talk to me, whatever. You may need to miss a game or two. *gasp* But if you tell me half-way through the semester or just miss more than two weeks of classes without any foresight, well then we’ll have some issues. Otherwise, I tend to be a fairly gracious person.
What happens if I miss more than two weeks of class?
You will lose a letter grade for each additional absence.
