I view my calling to scholarship as a deeper call to serve the local church. When I left the pastorate in Austin, Texas, it was in view that I was not leaving parish ministry but more fully equipping local churches as I prepare emerging leaders for the work of faithful ministry. As such, I view the local church as the most important calling on my life. My teaching life serves my ministry life, as my ministry life serves my teaching life.
